Samaritan Counseling Centers Center for Healthy Relationships 1205 NE Broadway Portland, OR 97232
I believe behavioral changes help create internal changes. When I work with children and families, I have experienced that every child learns and grows more quickly and effectively if their parents/ caregivers are actively involved in a child's therapy. I work with the entire family to help shift the family dynamic towards a healthy, productive way of being together.
In working with couples and adults, I focus on how to better express your feelings, needs and emotions. I believe the intimate relationship between two adults is the primary connection one has in adulthood. I support couples in developing this connection so that the relationship provides sustenance and strength. With individuals, I support developing a sense of community and connection with your chosen community. I incorporate spirituality into my counseling if clients value this.
I hold a Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology from Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and belong to the American Counseling Association. I have completed the 30 hours of required classes to provide licensure supervision for therapists working towards their LPC.
I have two years of training in providing Emotionally Focused Couples Counseling and am a Level 1 Gottman therapist. I have ten years experience working with children and women who have trauma in their past. I have a passion for helping people develop or regain a sense of joy in their lives. I also have training in Family Therapy, Lifespan Development and Dialectical Behavior Therapy, with several years experience facilitating DBT skills training groups.
