When anxiety, dark moods, loneliness, or fear become our daily companions, we may feel chronically overwhelmed, lose touch with inspiration and creativity, and feel unfulfilled in relationships. For many people, talking with a therapist at these times provides hope and facilitates positive life changes.
In a nurturing and accepting environment I will support and empower you to:
• Build skills that increase emotional balance
• Create tools to help you cultivate more fulfilling relationships
• Recover from physical and or emotional trauma
• Develop insight to resolve inner conflict
You are welcome to include your spiritual, religious, or philosophical tradition or beliefs in the process.
I hold a Master's Degree in clinical Social Work (MSW) from Portland State University. I am trained in Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and am a Member of NASW (National Association of Social Workers)
I have extensive experience working with women survivors of trauma, including PTSD, physical, emotional, and sexual abuse.
I am also experienced with clients who are struggling with emotional issues related to physical health conditions. I welcome opportunities to work in collaboration with you and your allopathic, naturopathic, holistic, or traditional health care provider or healer.
Other specialty areas include issues relating to culture, ethnicity, sexuality, relationships, intergenerational trauma, as well as life transitions, depression, anxiety, and grief.
Based on your unique goals, personality, and values we will combine tools from various therapeutic approaches, for example: narrative therapy, expressive arts therapy, mindfulness, wilderness therapy, and Gottman-based relationship therapy.
Finding the right therapist can seem like a daunting process, especially when dealing with stressful experiences. To help you get a sense for how we might work together I offer a free phone consultation before our initial appointment to answer any of your questions about the therapy process.
